Overview
If there’s one trek that perfectly captures the essence of the Garhwal Himalayas — rolling green meadows, snow-clad peaks, alpine forests, and warm village hospitality — it’s the Dayara Bugyal Trek. “Bugyal” in the local language means high-altitude meadow, and Dayara is among the most beautiful in all of India.
Situated in the Uttarkashi region of Uttarakhand, Dayara Bugyal transforms dramatically with the seasons — lush green in summer, sprinkled with wildflowers in monsoon, and blanketed in snow during winter. The trek offers wide-angle views of Bandarpoonch, Draupadi Ka Danda, Srikanth, and Gangotri peaks, making it a favorite for nature lovers and photographers.
Its gentle gradient, well-defined trails, and breathtaking campsites make it a perfect choice for beginners and families who wish to experience the magic of Himalayan trekking without extreme difficulty.

Itinerary
Dehradun to Raithal
The adventure begins with a scenic drive from Dehradun through the valleys of the Bhagirathi River. The road journey passes Uttarkashi, Bhatwari, and finally reaches Raithal Village, the base camp for Dayara Bugyal Trek.
Raithal is a picturesque settlement known for its friendly villagers, terraced fields, and spectacular sunset views. After reaching Raithal, settle into your homestay or guesthouse, enjoy hot tea, and acclimatize to the mountain air.
In the evening, attend a briefing about trek safety, weather conditions, and route details. Don’t miss the golden light that bathes the Gangotri range as the sun sets — a perfect prelude to the trek ahead.
Overnight stay: Raithal homestay.

Raithal to Gui Campsite
After breakfast, the trek begins with a gentle ascent through oak, rhododendron, and maple forests. The air becomes cooler and fresher as you climb higher, and occasional openings in the forest canopy reveal glimpses of distant snow peaks.
About halfway, you’ll pass small shepherd huts and grassy clearings — perfect for rest and photos. The final stretch opens into the beautiful Gui Campsite, located amid dense oak forests and overlooking the valley below.
The view from Gui is mesmerizing: rows of pine trees framing the distant horizon while clouds drift lazily over the peaks. After reaching camp, relax, enjoy your packed lunch, and explore nearby meadows. In the evening, gather around a campfire, share stories, and stargaze in the crisp Himalayan night.
Overnight stay: Gui Campsite.

Gui to Dayara Top
Today is the highlight of the trek — the much-awaited ascent to Dayara Bugyal Top. Start early after breakfast and climb gradually through alpine meadows that open wider with every step. As you approach the upper slopes, the landscape transforms into a vast ocean of rolling green hills (or snowfields in winter) stretching endlessly under the sky.
During summer, the meadows are carpeted with hundreds of wildflowers in shades of yellow, purple, and white. In winter, the same terrain glows pristine white — perfect for snow walks and photography.
Upon reaching Dayara Top, you are rewarded with a panoramic 360° view of the Gangotri Himalayan range, including Bandarpoonch (6,316 m), Black Peak, Srikanth, and Gangotri I & II. Spend quality time soaking in the view, capturing photographs, and enjoying your packed lunch with nature as your companion.
After enjoying the summit, descend carefully back to Gui Campsite, retracing your steps through the open meadows. The evening at Gui feels more magical as the light fades over the peaks and campfires glow under the stars.

Gui to Raithal → Drive to Dehradun
Wake up early to a peaceful morning surrounded by birdsong and misty mountains. After breakfast, begin your descent through the same forested trail back to Raithal. The downward route feels refreshing and allows you to fully absorb the beauty of the region — the scent of pine needles, the sound of mountain streams, and glimpses of village life below.
At Raithal, collect your certificates or say goodbye to your trek crew. After lunch, drive back to Dehradun, reaching by evening. The drive itself is scenic, tracing the Bhagirathi River again through winding mountain roads.
You’ll return home with memories of meadows that touch the sky, and a sense of calm that only the Himalayas can offer.
